Rarely has a proposed issue engendered such excitement as PHONY did when I announced it last January. But excited future readers did not lend to a great bounty of submissions.
Happily, what the submissions lacked in quantity they made up for in quality. I did not anticipate that a collection of phony reviews would make me weep but I did and more than once.
I am hopeful that these imaginary works of art—these imaginary worlds where such art exists—inspire us to greater acts of creation here in our own world.
