I go to the temple
Light pours through me
Scattering to unseen souls
And mending raw wounds
I leave the temple
What remains?
Peace? Yes, but life is busy,
And peace
Is a hard gift to hold
Joy? Yes, but lesser happiness
Quickly claims its place
Full with empty,
worldly things
Wisdom? Yes, but revelatory insights in
Almost heaven
Are too rarely applied,
In the everyday world
So?
What do I
Retain
From salvation giving baptism
In the house of the Lord?
Memory of rushing waters
In the form of wet hair on my neck.
