I wake in the morning
Slightly grumpy
Thoroughly exhausted.
I can barely focus as I prepare
Space out
Find a shirt.
Still, I have no intention of missing the class
Every morning
No matter how tired
Finding whispers of wisdom
Ancient echoes
In modern ears
No matter if the words were from
The 1800s, or
1000 BC
They are the words of the God of today
I drink in
Every moment
My marking pencil fills page after page
Blissful yellow
Breath of revelation
I may not know my classmates well, nor they me
I sit alone,
Or with half strangers
But no matter the length of class
Or time
Of morning
I have a Friend beside me to whisper with
He is why
I come
Every Seminary morning, day after day after day
Despite lost sleep
And tired eyes
I am filled with life from God
No chance
Of a nap now
I am entirely awake, more so than I’ve ever been.
Even as I yawn
It’s time to get to work
